Timoteo Gonzalez
Born in the artisan city of Tasco Guerrero, Mexico, Timoteo followed in his father’s footsteps learning the artistry of jewelry at age ten. He made beautiful jewelry using natural as well as synthetic stones and acquired extensive experience from working with a variety of metals such as silver, brass, copper and pewter. In 1994 he graduated from the international school of Artes Plasticas, Ex-hacienda del Chorrillo, in Mexico. Timoteo has worked as an artisan for 18 years. At Gladstone he specializes in spin casting, primarily making hardware pieces–finneals, knobs, pulls, sabots and drapery hardware. Designing from drawings, he creates a mold. Then he inserts the mold into a spin casting machine and pours in the metal. The machine uses centrifugal force, spinning metal into the mold. When the casting is complete, a beautiful metalwork art piece emerges. Timoteo then pre-polishes and polishes his decorative handiwork and prepares to send it for finishing.
